An ancient ingredient. A new Australian story.

Sesame has been part of food cultures around the world for thousands of years. For TOSTÉ co-founders Jin Kim and Jessica Min, it has always been personal — rooted in Korean food culture, generations of shared meals, and a deep appreciation for sesame as an ingredient.

But TOSTÉ began with a bigger question:
What if Australia could grow, make and celebrate its own sesame?

After years of working with Australian growers, researchers and industry partners, that question became the beginning of a new journey — bringing together Jin's pioneering work with Australian-grown sesame and Jessica's vision to transform those seeds into an exceptional premium brand.

Australian Sesame

A New Australian Story.

Australia is beginning to discover the potential of sesame as a new agricultural crop. In 2017, Jin was part of the team that helped initiate the development of a new Australian sesame industry, working alongside farmers, researchers, government and industry partners to explore its potential as a commercial Australian crop. The journey was documented by ABC Landline in 2018 and again in 2024, documenting the progress of an industry taking its first steps. But growing sesame was only half the journey. For Australian sesame to become a sustainable industry, there also needed to be a market for what Australian farmers grow.

TOSTÉ was created to help build that market.

An Australian First

The First Harvest.

Every new story needs a beginning. For TOSTÉ, that beginning is First Harvest 2026, our first commercial release of Australian-grown sesame oil and an opportunity to experience Australian sesame at the beginning of its journey. Each harvest is inherently unique, shaped by variety, season, location and growing conditions. Rather than hide those differences, we celebrate them. Through careful sourcing, batch identification and seed-to-bottle traceability, First Harvest captures a particular moment in the development of Australian sesame.
